पिछले तीन दिनों में नेटफ्लिक्स की एक सीरीज देखी, द नाईट एजेंट… जबर्दस्त थ्रिलर सीरीज है जिसमें कोई उल्टे सीधे सीन नहीं हैं, गाली गलौज वाले डायलाॅग नहीं है, और जबर्दस्ती के घुसाये हुए ट्विस्ट नहीं हैं, बल्कि एक तरह से हर फ्रेम में कहानी चुस्त और चौकस लगती है। मेन रोल में पीटर (गेब्रियल बैस्सो) और रोज़ (लूसिअन बुकानन) हैं, जिनमें पीटर एक एफबीआई एजेंट होता है, और रोज़ एक ऐसी विक्टिम जिसके अंकल आंटी को मार दिया जाता है जो कि प्रेसीडेंट के लिये कोई इनक्वायरी कर रहे थे। आईएमडीबी पर इसकी रेटिंग 7.7 है।

यह कहानी मैथ्यू क्वर्क के सेम नाम के नावल पर बेस्ड है और अमेरिकन डिप्लोमेसी के दो पहलुओं को दरशाती है। एक देश में अमेरिका ने ही एक तानाशाह बिठा रखा है, जिससे डील करके वाईट हाउस से जुड़े कुछ लोग जबर्दस्त फायदा उठाते हैं। उस तानाशाह के खिलाफ एक बागी ओमार जडार खड़ा होता है, जिसकी एक्टीविटीज के चलते उसे आतंकवादी घोषित कर रखा है, उसके साथ एक पीएफआई टाईप संगठन जुड़ा होता है, जिसके कारनामे काले होते हैं, तो उसे टेररिस्ट आर्गेनाइजेशन डिक्लेयर्ड किया जा चुका है। 

जडार पीएफआई से अपने को अलग बताता है और उसकी आलोचना भी करता है, ख़ुद अपने देश में लोकतंत्र लाना चाहता है। प्रेसिडेंट मिशेल उसे स्थापित करना चाहती हैं क्योंकि उनका लक्ष्य हर देश में डेमोक्रेसी स्थापित करना है, जैसा अमेरिकी नेता प्रचार करते हैं, लेकिन वाईस प्रेसिडेंट इसके खिलाफ है क्योंकि वह जडार को आतंकवादी ही मानता है और किसी देश की व्यवस्था को ऐसे इंसान के हाथ में नहीं सौंपना चाहता, अंदरखाने इसका दूसरा कारण उस देश में मौजूद तानाशाह से उस लाॅबी का नेक्सस ख़तरे में पड़ जाना था, जो उस सिनारियो में आर्थिक मुनाफा कमा रही थी। अब इससे वाईट हाउस में दो खेमे बन जाते हैं और इनके बीच कैसी रस्साकसी चलती है, कैसे शह और मात टाईप पैटर्न पर चलते एक के बाद एक लोग मारे जाते हैं, वह ख़ुद से देखिये।

मेन चीज़ जो इस पोस्ट के बहाने कहनी थी, वह यह कि कांट्रैक्ट किलर डेल, जो वीपी के लिये ट्रबल शूटर का काम करता है, काफी कुछ सलमान से सिमिलर लगता है और उसे देखते हुए मैं सोच रहा था, कि एक जैसे ऊटपटांग रोल करने वाले सलमान को अगर उसी रोल में पेश किया जाये तो वह उस पे कितना सूट करेगा— सलमान को उस रूप में ट्राई करना चाहिये।

दूसरी और सबसे मेन चीज़, जो मैंने ग़ौर की, वह यह कि अमेरिकी लोकतंत्र कितना परिष्कृत और परिपक्व है कि वहां ऐसे सब्जेक्ट पर बड़ी आसानी से किताबें लिख ली जाती हैं, फिल्म और सीरीज बना ली जाती हैं, जिनमें सीधे वाईट हाऊस, एफबीआई, सीआईए या अमेरिकन डिप्लोमेसी को कटघरे में खड़ा कर लिया जाता है, चाहे रेड हो या जेसन बोर्न सीरीज की फिल्में हों या हालिया द नाईट एजेंट, जिसमें सीधे वायस प्रेसिडेंट और वाईट हाऊस के कई उच्चाधिकारियों तक को साजिश में लिप्त दिखा दिया गया, जहां खुद वायस प्रेसिडेंट एक बड़ा विस्फोट कराने की कोशिश करता है, जिसमें सैकड़ों लोग मारे जायें।

बावजूद इसके वहां कोई दल, कोई पार्टी, कोई टटपुंजिया डंडा लेकर नहीं खड़ा होता कि इससे हमारे देश की इमेज खराब हो रही है, जबकि वैसा कुछ हकीक़त में होने की दूर-दूर कोई संभावना न हो तो भी.. और जिस देश में हर तरह की संभावना मौजूद हो, जहाँ हर तरह के कांड कराये जा रहे हों, जहां की नंगई पूरी दुनिया हर रोज़ वायरल होते वीडियो, तस्वीरों और खबरों के सहारे देख रही है— वहां इन सब सच्चाईयों को किसी बड़े मंच से सिर्फ कह देने भर से पार्टी, दल और टटपुंजियों के पूरे समूह के पेट में दर्द शुरु हो जाता है कि इससे हमारे देश की इमेज खराब हो रही है। इससे हमारी भावना आहत हो रही है।

सोचिये कि ऐसी कोई फिल्म, सीरीज भारत में बनाई जाये, जिसमें सिर्फ कल्पना के सहारे किसी सत्ताधारी पार्टी, नेता, सरकारी एजेंसी को किसी कांड में लिप्त दिखाया जाये तो क्या उसका दर्शकों तक पहुंच पाना मुमकिन होगा? और दावा करते हैं सबसे बड़ा लोकतंत्र होने का— एक सच्चाई तक नहीं पचती, एक कल्पना क्या ही पचेगी। यहां कहानी को पर्दे पर उतारने की एक अघोषित शर्त है कि केंद्रीय सत्ता एकदम ईमानदार दिखनी चाहिये, रचनात्मक छूट बस राज्य के मामले में ली जा सकती है, क्योंकि वहां तो विरोधी पार्टी की सरकार होने का बहाना लिया जा सकता है।

बहरहाल, अपने फिल्मकारों से द नाईट एजेंट जैसी सीरीज की कल्पना करना और भारतीय दर्शक वर्ग से उसे पचा पाने की उम्मीद करना— दोनों ही औकात से बढ़ कर हैं। आपको ऐसा कुछ देखना है तो हालिवुड की सीरीज या फिल्म ही आपकी इच्छापूर्ति कर सकती है। वक़्त हो तो देख लीजिये.. मेरे हिसाब से अच्छी है, बाकी सिनेमा के मामले में सबकी च्वाईस अलग-अलग ही होती है तो यह ज़रूरी नहीं होता कि कोई चीज़ एक को अच्छी लगे तो दूसरे को भी वह अच्छी लगे ही।

Watched a Netflix series in the last three days, The Night Agent… A great thriller series with no straight forward scenes, no abusive dialogues, and no forced twists, but in a way story in every frame Looks sharp and alert. The main roles are Peter (Gabriel Basso) and Rose (Lucian Buchanan), in which Peter is an FBI agent, and Rose is a victim whose uncle and aunt are killed while doing an inquiry for the President. It has a rating of 7.7 on IMDb.

The story is based on the novel Same by Matthew Quirk and shows two aspects of American diplomacy. America itself has installed a dictator in one country, by dealing with which some people associated with the White House take tremendous advantage. A rebel Omar Zadar stands against that dictator, due to whose activities he has been declared a terrorist, a PFI type organization is associated with him, whose exploits are black, so it has been declared a terrorist organization.

Jadar separates himself from PFI and also criticizes it, wants to bring democracy in his own country. President Michelle wants to install him because her goal is to establish democracy in every country, as American leaders preach, but the Vice President is against it because he considers Zadar to be a terrorist and the system of a country should be in the hands of such a person. Does not want to hand over, the second reason for this was to put the nexus of that lobby in jeopardy from the dictator present in that country, who was earning economic profits in that scenario. Now this creates two camps in the White House and see for yourself what kind of tug-of-war goes on between them, how people are killed one after the other following the check-and-match type pattern.

Despite this, no party, no party, no Tatpunjiya stands there with a stick that it is tarnishing the image of our country, even though there is no remote possibility of something like that happening in reality.. and in a country where every All kinds of possibilities exist, where all kinds of scandals are being conducted, where the whole world is seeing the nakedness everyday with the help of viral videos, pictures and news- there all these truths can be told from a big platform just by saying. Think if such a film, series is made in India, in which only with the help of imagination, a ruling party, leader, government agency is shown involved in a scandal, will it be possible to reach the audience? And they claim to be the biggest democracy - even a truth cannot be digested, what can a fantasy be digested. Here there is an unstated condition of putting the story on the screen that the central authority should look absolutely honest, constructive exemption can be taken only in the case of the state, because there the government of the opposition party can be used as an excuse.

However, to imagine a series like The Night Agent from its filmmakers and expect the Indian audience to digest it—both are over the top. If you want to see something like this then only Hollywood series or film can fulfill your wish. If you have time, do watch it.. according to me it is good, in the case of cinema everyone has different preferences, so it is not necessary that if one likes something, others will also like it.
